Carpet moths, also known as Tapestry moths, will infect homes and offices usually causing bald patches on carpets or rugs as they eat the carpet fibres. They only live for a few months but can lay up to 200 eggs in this time, and their larvae also eat carpet fibres.

Signs of Carpet Moths

  • Sighting of moths which are small and beige in colour, about 5mm long.
  • Finding small bald patches at the edges of carpets or rugs.
  • Finding carpet moth larval cases on your carpet, these are small and white in colour.
  • Carpet moths prefer natural fibres such as silk or wool but will eat mixed fibres such as wool blended with synthetics
