The cost of rodent pest control varies on the company you choose to use. Some of the better known national and international pest control companies are huge brands, part of much larger corporations. They may have recognisable branding, however may charge more for a standard service, which a local pest control company can deliver for an equal or lesser cost. Clients ring us occasionally who have been quoted over £700 for a three visit rat or mouse pest control program, so just be aware of this when looking for pest control quotes.
Some companies offer a three visit mouse or rat pest control program, and others will offer two visit rodent pest control service. Pest control is a regulated industry, and a minimum two visit program is required. Two visit rat or mouse pest control may be cheaper, as there are fewer visits, so this is a factor to consider on booking. Always check how much additional pest control visits are going to cost, as if the infestation is still active after the two or three visits, you need to know how much your pest control company is going to charge to continue the rodent control program.
Never pay a pest control company to come and assess a mouse or rat infestation, an initial assessment can be made on the first visit, and the necessary rat or mouse pest control program started straight away. Pest control companies are used to carrying out rat and mouse extermination programs, and most standard pest control jobs should fall within this category, with assessment and starting the extermination program all included on visit one.
Pest control and rodent extermination programs are usually completed using rodent bait. Rat or mouse bait will be left where your pest control technician knows it is most likely to be eaten, and where it is safe from contaminating other animals or people. On the second visit, they will assess whether more bait is needed, or whether the rat or mouse infestation is finished. Most standard jobs can be completed in two visits, sometimes three visit rodent extermination programs are needed, and on rare cases four or more pest control visits may be needed. This is the exception though, and usually in situations where the rodent infestation has been established for some time.
When looking for pest control companies, check out their reviews, and make sure they look professional. A local pest control company might be best, as they are able to be more reactive to your situation, tend to have lower charges, and will usually have a more personal approach. Some pest control companies are actually call centres, that then outsource your work to various different suppliers, so be aware of this also, it is always better to work with a pest control company directly as you can speak to them quickly over the phone if needed.
